The cold and flu season is approaching and preventing sickness is the aim for most of us. After avoiding being sneezed on, our next best defence is clean hands.
Our simplyclean Lemon Myrtle Hand Sanitiser is effective against cold and flu germs and helps protect you and your family against these viruses, when people around you are suffering, at work, at school and when you’re out and about.
The National Health and Medical Research Council here in Australia, states that hand sanitisers are an effective way to kill germs in their publication ‘Main ways to prevent infection’.
Studies by the Centre for Disease Control in the US show that alcohol based hand sanitisers are effective against the influenza virus. Further, in research published in 2010 by the University of Virginia comparing the effects of soap and water hand washing to ethanol based hand sanitisers, “the ethanol-based hand disinfectants were significantly more effective than hand washing with water or soap and water for removal of detectable rhinovirus (the common cold).
Hand sanitisers are excellent to carry when out of the home, in handbags, workbags, back packs and school bags (for children old enough not to require adult supervision).
simplyclean Lemon Myrtle Hand Sanitiser contains no skin sensitisers - such as propylene glycol found in most brands - so is safe to use as needed to help keep viruses at bay.
It’s good to remember:
- Hand sanitisers are not a substitute for hand washing with soap and water. Soap and water removes dirt and washes away general day-to-day bacteria, for example after visiting the toilet.
- Hand sanitisers are not for routine use; they need only be used when you come into contact with other people who are suffering from colds or flu (or other infectious illnesses).
- Hand sanitisers contain alcohol and so should be kept out of the reach of small children, and used under adult supervison.
